Scribd: An on-line document repository

I'm playing around with Scribd - an online document store. Interestingly, you can upload just about anything - this is a 5mb OpenOffice document - the FirM manual - and allow folks to read it on the web. Without all that mucking around in hyperspace PDF formats.

Phew! Thats a big-ass embedded HTML segment.. Remember, this is less for the FirM manual itself - though feel free to buy a copy from us - more to do with large document distribution.

I'll have to investigate this. I want to publish some fiction sometime this year - nothing worth trying to earn money from, so services like Scribd are appealing because they keep my bandwidth costs down. Emoticon

If it's like a Flickr for text (allows rating/favourites and commenting), then it may well be ideal for some things...
