This weekend, on a misson to Aberdeen to find female TNC connectors, I got frustrated at the lack of success and ended up at Hein Gerike - motorbike stuff for the masses. A very patient chap measured my head, and put up with my unrealistic expectations to find a motorcycle helmet to fit my huge head (XXL, dontchaknow!), under £100, trendy, and of course quiet, removable liners, spacelight, etc. Once I'd upped my price range, I found a fairly nice Nolan helmet - I've never had one of those before. Lets see how it works out over the summer. It even has space for the Autocom in-helmet speakers and mike (intercom, iPod, phone, etc)

(The reference to the new helmet smell is a reference to my previous helmet - a fantastic Shoei - which after 8 years of being sweated in, smells like something died in there..)

Gravatar Image4 - You should just have gone to Solwise in the first place! They have lots of that stuff.

Just tried to buy a high end SatNav in Aberdeen this lunchtime, it was not a good experiance. Going back to the Net

Gravatar Image5 - Bill, you remind me of the movie "I, Robot". As in...

"Your head is huge!.....but lovely."

mmm..

Update: Its more noisy than the Shoei (unsurprisingly, as the internal shell has been carved out for a speaker/microphone system). Its a lot lighter, and the breath control system is sooo good I found myself getting short of breath. No fogging as it has a built in fogguard..

And one really wierd thing. Telegraph poles, for some reason, trigger a peripheral vision jolt as you go by.. That took some getting used to..

And the nice glossy black surface is a bugger for scratches. Picking it up, I managed to roll it on the pavement, and have got some nice deep scratches in it already.

So far, its okay...
