Sheesh. I put it in sleep mode, and it fails.. When I switch it off, and then on again - sheesh. Everything gone again.

XP used to crash every time, hard reboot, the lot. But I never used to lose much. Vista, on the other hand appears "fragile". Its taken a good hour to get back "stuff", and I'm sure I'll find broken stuff for the next few weeks.

I'm sick and tired of nursing windows computers. Absolutely sick and tired.

My next laptop will be a Mac.

Gravatar Image1 - PC != Windows.

You could always go for Linux Emoticon

Gravatar Image2 - Mac's and Mac Apps crash as well. But you'll get used to the message "xxxxxxx has unexpectedly quit." Emoticon

Gravatar Image3 - Linux - been there. Did that for four months last year - the only stuff I was unhappy with was having to run VMWare to get Designer. Okay, on the Mac, I'd need VMWare or Parallels - but I suspect Parallels would have a slightly lower impact. Perhaps.

And I missed iTunes. The Mac definately has it - Linux as various clones that are getting much better - but werent good enough last time.

The *important* stuff - a Notes client, an "office" style suite - are all there. Stability, etc, especially in Linux.

If I were an MS Shareholder, I'd be worried right now. MS rely on the monopoly of Windows on every new computer to survive, which of course upsells into copies of Office.

Nothing new compelling with Vista - the alleged new security is nothing more than a thin veneer of lies over the top of a comprehensive, intrusive DRM system.

Gravatar Image4 - Hi Bill,

Have you bought it yet? I have been drooling over a MacBookpro for ages now, I am really tired of spending so much time repairing, and rerepairing windows. I am PCLP and was wondering if you are finding that it is also a good machine for development?

Please please tell me that it is worth it - I have to find a way to justify the premium!

Take care,
Andrew
