The Marykirk Raft Race 2011 happened yesterday, and I'm a wee bit proud to say that as a part of the committee, I managed to help out a bit and add to the fun.
The race itself had 17 rafts, and all came down the river in one piece. The 8-man coastguard team were on hand again if anyone got into difficulties, but again - thankfully- had very little to do.
The festivities in the park included bands, highland dancing, a craft fair, a bar, a dog show, line dancing, and the usual 'Glamorous Grannies', 'Miss Princess', 'Mr Muscles' competitions.
More info, photos, results are all over at the Marykirk Raft Race web site.
A very big thank you to Warren and Kitty Elsmore who lent the PA system for the show ring.
