File this under 'I'll probably never use this, but what the hey'. Sometimes in virtual and/or remote desktop or remote control environments, its difficult to pass the application a specific key. In my case, Parallels does have a 'send control-break' but Notes doesnt honor it. Which sometimes is a PITA.
(I suspect Notes is monitoring a low-level keyboard thing, and Parallels is passing a key or vice versa. The Break 'key' is treated rather differently from normal keys - it flushes the keyboard buffer for instance. Sorry for the history lesson, but I once paid £5 for a copy of Peter Nortons low-level guide to the PC and its finally paid off!).
So. How to fix it? Use the OSK - the On Screen Keyboard. Click start, run, and then type OSK followed by return. You then get an on-screen keyboard...
This is of course in windows XP. If your running Vista - well as your probably sick of hearing - this might not be the same.
