The existing Notes 703 for Mac has a number of problems in Leopard. Dunno when any fixes will come out, and the problems arent bad enough to actually worry about.. So.
- If you can get it to install, ensure that the file "$HOME/Library/Preferences/notes preferences" text file exists. I found that my re-install didnt recreate this file. I just stuck in one line with [Notes] and a second line with 'Directory=/Users/Bill/Library/Application Settings/Lotus Notes Data' (or whatever your login name is on the Mac)... This did the trick. The next time Notes fired up, it ran through setup.
- I've also seen mutterings about 'permissions'. I suspect that the notes program may be trying to write to the /Applications/Notes.app/... directories.. I did a 'sudo chmod -R a+w /Applications/Notes.app' which is a kinda brutal, horrible hack to tide me over (not recommended)...
Biggup to Paul Mooney for helping me out.. !
