Pascal is 30 years old

God. Slashdot is reminiscing about Pascal and its missed opportunity, etc.

I do remember my first PC based job - assembler programming, and during that time Turbo Pascal came out. Amazing stuff - an IDE on a PC (remember, we're talking twin floppy machines here).

Several years later, one of my close friends admitted to being the Turbo Pascal distributor for the UK, after meeting the legendary Philipe Khan in the US. Being a distributor involved hiring some girls, organising a printer, and buying a shrink-wrap machine - all ran from offices above the Anderston Bus Station in Glasgow. Very glamorous..
